A mysterious teaser image hints that a 671bhp V8-powered racing hypercar is set to undergo a transformation into a road-ready version. Porsche appears to be preparing a road version of its Le Mans car, with a potential reveal scheduled for the iconic 24-hour race in June.
A cryptic teaser image dropped by the German brand reveals a side profile of the 963 hypercar, which is currently making waves in the World Endurance Championship (WEC).
During the announcement, Porsche drew significant attention to the 917, a legendary model that stands out as one of the rare Porsche endurance cars to have been modified for road use over 50 years ago.
Originally built for track racing, Porsche sold chassis 030 in 1974 to Count Rossi di Montelera, heir to the Martini brand, who went on to convert it for road use.
After presenting videos of the iconic machine, Porsche posed the question, “What if?” before revealing the enigmatic, shadowed side profile of the 963.

The 963 is driven by an electrically assisted, twin-turbocharged 4.6-liter V8 engine, a modern evolution of the powertrain found in the legendary Porsche 918 Spyder supercar.
The engine delivers a peak output of 671bhp, though its performance in WEC races is governed by Balance of Performance regulations.
Although Porsche has yet to confirm anything, a road-going 963 would most likely be a one-off or produced in an incredibly limited run.
